In the Blink of an Eye

You were so small

So precious

A perfect gift from God.

Then one day I blinked.

You were so cute

Mumbling your words

Exploring your new world.

Then one day I blinked.

Your first day of school

Was joyous and exciting

I thought it would never end.

Then one day I blinked.

You are now in transition

Trying to figure things out

The wonder years of preteen

Then one day I blinked.

Wow, I can’t believe

You’re in high school

An exciting time of life.

Then one day I blinked.

Its graduation day

My, where did the time go?

I thought it would last forever.

Then one day I blinked.

The day is here

I’ve enjoyed every moment

I’ve made the best of our time.

As I let you go to start a new life

I pray for you always

And say good-bye.

It really has been in the blink of an eye.
